Evaluation of a Double Pipe Technology- Performance for Sponge City by E McBean, Ai Li Yang, Huiyan Cheng, Yi Cheng Wu, Zheng Liu, Zhi Neng Dai, Haiyan Fu and Munir Bhatti* in Crimson Publishers : Open Journal of Civil Engineering Precipitation, evaporation and runoff patterns are changing, resulting in uncertainty about the security of water supply, the quality of drinking water, flood management in urban environments and the long-term health of natural ecosystems. The particular aspects for China are described where, with increasing urbanization, flooding has become a regular occurrence in response, China is developing “sponge cities” to attain resilience to stormwater. This paper describes a novel technology with significant potential; the principle of the ‘double pipe technology’ which involves placement of a perforated pipe below a stormwater pipe, encourages passage from the stormwater pipe down to a second pipe, a perforated pipe. This allows temporary storage in the lower p...

Feasibility study on small scale food production using off-grid photovoltaic water pumping system in coastal dune_Crimson Publishers

Feasibility study on small scale food production using off-grid photovoltaic water pumping system in coastal dune by Xinyan Wang, Kotaro Tagawa* and Bateer Baiyin  in Crimson Publishers :  Open Journal of Civil Engineering A small-scale food production which is combined an off-grid photovoltaic water pumping system with vegetable cultivation was tested. The groundwater at seashore in coastal dune are irrigated to cultivate Swiss chard. The practicability of off-grid photovoltaic water pumping system and availability of groundwater in coastal dune are suggested. https://crimsonpublishers.com/acet/fulltext/ACET.000523.php For more open access journals in   Crimson Publishers  please click on the link   https://crimsonpublishers.com/ For more articles in  Open Journal of Civil Engineering Please click on the link  https://crimsonpublishers.com/acet/

Effect of Return Gas Temperature in Reciprocating and Rotary Compressor Performance for Medium and Low Temperature Applications in Commercial Buildings_Crimson Publishers

Effect of Return Gas Temperature in Reciprocating and Rotary Compressor Performance for Medium and Low Temperature Applications in Commercial Buildings by Omar Quintero, Gustavo Mahecha and Andrés Julián Aristizábal in Crimson publishers : civil engineeringresearch journal Energy efficiency in refrigeration and air conditioning vapor compression systems has been focused on the development of modulation methods allowing variation of compressor energy consumption according to refrigeration requirements, or the use of alternative energies for running those compression systems. However, even when a compressor comes with frequency inverter, improper selection can lead the user to spend more energy during low cooling loads; or force the compressor to work under conditions for which it was not designed. Thus, the present article shows how the determination of the return gas temperature of the compressor can affect its performance and may vary according to the type of applic...
